Yhteenveto:Panicum maximum Jacq. in Southwestern Nigeria occur in two distinct field forms. Thirty-five accessions representing these two field forms were collected and studied for their morphological, agrobotanical and reproductive biology characters. The plant is observed to be an aggressive colonizer. It flowers early as days to first heading range from 43 – 93 days. They are poor seeders and propagation is predominantly vegetative through root-stocks and roots from the nodes. The variations in mean pollen size and percentage fertility emphasize the influence of genetic factors on pollen size and fertility. Pollen fertility is low in all the accessions studied.
