It also examined the socio-economic factors affecting the adoption of ICT on project planning in the industry and investigated the impact of ICT on the performance of the industry in Nigeria. The study was carried out using both primary and secondary data sources. The primary data were obtained through the use of two sets of questionnaire and interview schedule to a total of two hundred and twenty five (225) respondents in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo state. The first set of questionnaire was administered on forty five (45) heads of department across three Departments of food and beverage firms in southwestern Nigeria and elicited information on factors affecting the adoption of ICT on project planning in the industry. The second set of questionnaire was administered on one hundred and seventy five (175) purposively selected workers and users of ICT across the three Departments and elicited information on types of ICTs adopted in project planning and to assess the impact of these technologies on the performance of the industry. Secondary data was sourced from the business directories, companies’ records on the level of outputs and significance of the application of these technologies to the performance of the food and beverage industry in Southwestern Nigeria. Data collected were analysed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The study revealed that food and beverage firms in Nigeria are predominantly (61.9%) multinationals with a few (31%) indigenous and (7.1%) Joint venture. The type of partnership for joint venture were wholly (100%) Nigerian firms and foreign firms. However, the top major ICT in use by the firms were Enterprise resource planning, Product lifecycle management, Merlin Software, Customer Relationship Management, Supply Chain Management, Management Information Systems, Virtual Private Networks, Internet, e-mail and voice over IP. All of these ICTs had a mean rank of 4.00 and above. Three factors were identified to influence ICT adoption. These include Human Resource capacity (52.8%), investment/finance (47.2%) and competency on the usage of ICT (69.4%). these three critical factors had a mean rank of 4.00 and above of 5 point scales. Furthermore, only investment/finance and competency on the usage of ICT. The results also showed factors which had significant influence on ICT adoption in the project planning activities of the firms were Investment/Finance (r = -.425**: p<0.05) and Employee Competency on ICT(r = -.634**: p<0.05) The study concluded that deployment of ICTs in project planning activities has improved the production process and quality standard of the products significantly.
