Enteropathogenic, enteroxigenic, enteroinvasive, enterohaemorrhagic and enteroaggregative E. coli are definitive causes of infantile diarrhea whereas the role of diffusely adherent, cell detaching and cytolethal distending E. coli in the aetiologia of the disease is putative.
