Effect of Simazine on Nitrogen nutrition, Yield and Protein of Wetland Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

A greenhouse study was conducted on a sandy loam river levee soil to  determine the effects of subtoxic levels (0, 0.07, 0.14, 0.28, 0.56Kg a.i/ha) 0f simazine (2-chloro-4, 6-bis (ethylamino)-s-triazine) on the nitrogen nutrition, yield and protein content of wetland rice (Oryza sativa L va...

Yhteenveto:A greenhouse study was conducted on a sandy loam river levee soil to  determine the effects of subtoxic levels (0, 0.07, 0.14, 0.28, 0.56Kg a.i/ha) 0f simazine (2-chloro-4, 6-bis (ethylamino)-s-triazine) on the nitrogen nutrition, yield and protein content of wetland rice (Oryza sativa L var. IR8 and MAS 2401). The results showed that simazine application at panicle primordia initiation stage significantly increased nitrogen uptake, percent protein in the grain, and total protein yield of treated plants. It however significantly decreased grain yield. The latter can be attributed to increased sterility.
